Fr Walstra Academy is a Catholic private school sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma. It is a mixed day school situated in Musikoma area of Bungoma Mucipality; one kilometer off Mumias –Bungoma main road, 500 metres past Centrica hotel.
The school started in 2012 as a private school under the visionary leadership of Rev.Fr.Christopher Wanyonyi . The teachers and support staff are employees of the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma. It started with 31 pupils, steadily growing to 358 by June 2019, housed in 12 classes. The founding head teacher was Patrick Nyongesa and the current is Mrs Beatrice Wafula
Principal Message: Welcome to our website Fr.Walstra Academy. I am greatly humbled to be the principal of this wonderful school.
It is a great honour for me to work with our learners, our staff both teaching and non teaching and our parents to model our school to be the best it can be.
My aim is to achieve our school goals through team work.
We implement the curriculum in a flexible and stimulating way to enable us meet the needs of ll our learners as we strive for high academic outcomes at all levels.
Our dedicated teachers are out to ensure our learners develop the skills for demanding 21st century living. This is done by enriching the classrooms with a variety of learning aids some sourced locally.
We endevour each learner to leave school enriched with the values of respect, cooperation, self efficiency and moral uprightness.
As the leaqrner proceeds from one grade to the next we expect to deliver to society an individual who is socially, spiritually, emotionally and morally balanced.
Fr.Walstra is an institution which has numerous opportunities for parental and community involvement.
Through your participation and interest you will be assimilated as a valued member of our school and its warm and generous community.

Fr Walstra Academy has :

The school is fully owned by the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma. It is a single streamed school from pre-primary to grade 8.
The school has play grounds for football, Netball and volleyball. We desire to participate in co-curriculum activities up to National level as we continue to grow our strength.
Our school programme: Pre-primary up to grade 8 level runs from Monday to Friday.
Pre-school: We have 3 levels of Pre-school: i.e
Day Care school- We admit from age two and half years to thee years. They are oriented to school life. No formal design available.
Pre-Primary 1-The formal design is availed by the MOE. The minimum age for admissions is 4 years. The curriculum implemented is (CBC) Competence Based Curriculum.
Pre-primary 2-Minimum age for admission is 5 years. We implement the new curriculum and follow the design for various learning areas.
This section has 3 teachers who are trained and registered with the Teachers Service Commission. They work hand in hand to prepare learners for primary school.
PRIMARY SECTION: The primary section is divided into 2 sections.
1.Lower primary-It comprises of grade 1-3 who are doing Competence Based curriculum(CBC).
2.Upper primary- It comprise of class 4-8 implementing the 8-4-4 curriculum
Mode of admission – Save for those who have done pre primary at Fr.Walstra, new comers from grade 1-7 are subjected to interview at every beginning of term.
The primary section education ends with a National Examination taken at grade 8-KCPE Exam
EDUCATIONAL VISITS/TOURS
The grade 5 visit Kisumu city, grade 6 visit Nakuru city and grade 8 visit Nairobi city.
ACADEMICS-The school is currently embracing CBC for pre-school to grade 3. Grade 4 to 8 undertaking 8-4-4 curriculum.
The curriculum implementation is eased by supervision of departmental heads.
Existing departments at Fr.Walstra: Science, Mathematics, Kiswahili, Social studies, Christian Religious Education, Examinations .
The curricuilum is implemented by professional teachers who are trained and registered with TSC. We are guided by the TSC Code of Regulation.
Currently we have 7 male eachers and 15 female teachers.
STUDENT LIFE
Meals-Learners are provided with 10.00 o’clock tea and Lunch while in school
SPIRITUAL LIFE-Weekly mass held in school. Wednesday for Lower primary and Friday for upper primary.
Morning assemblies conduted by the class teachers on Tuesday to Thursday.
CO-CURRICULUM –Evening after classes –varoius co-curiculum activities
PARENTS- To develop the child jointly with the school. The parents have role to play
(i) Paying school fees: tuition, Transport , Education tours
(ii) Supervision of homework
(iii) Communicating to the school through written message in the diary or by telephone calls.
Support-School is supported by the Catholic Diocese of Bungoma, Ministry of Education by training teachers on CBC and giving professional advice

-Term dates as scheduled by the Ministry of Education.
Term 1, Term 2 and term 3.
National Exams assessment dates supplied by KNEC.
